Technical Management and Leadership Essentials Graduate Certificate

The 12-credit Technical Management and Leadership Essentials Graduate Certificate prepares you for managing technical teams and complex engineering projects from start to finish.

This stackable certificate, embedded within the Master of Engineering Management, helps you master these skills essential to industry roles:

  • Engineering project management
  • Process management and risk management
  • Leadership and organizational management
  • Negotiating business contracts
  • Problem-solving styles and strategies
  • Navigating ethical and legal issues

Courses

  • SYSEN/ENGMT 805 - Technical Project Management
  • SYSEN/ENGMT 850 - Creativity and Problem Solving I
  • MNGMT 511- Organizational Behavior
  • STS 589 - Ethics and Values in Science and Technology

You can earn this certificate in less than one year or take up to two years. All courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C or better and an overall GPA of 3.0.

Stackable Certificate or Stand-alone Credential

You may earn this certificate by itself, or you can apply the courses toward the Master of Engineering Management if you apply to the master's program (no additional application fee) and are accepted. This stackable certificate offers you a valuable credential that shows your new expertise as you progress toward your master's degree. 

Up to 15 credits earned in any of these engineering management certificate programs may be transferred to the master's degree in engineering management, subject to restrictions outlined in GCAC-309 Transfer Credit.

Once you earn your certificate, you will receive a digital badge that you can display to recognize your professional growth. After successfully completing the required coursework, please submit the Graduate Certificate Completion Form. 

How to Apply

Please follow the Graduate Certificate Application Instructions to apply. The courses require a solid academic and/or professional background in engineering, mathematics, physics, or science.
