Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many credits are required for the MBA?

A: 33 credits are required to complete the MBA curriculum — some students with business/coursework may qualify for an exemption of up to 3 credit hours. This is determined after a review of academic records and work experience. Schedule a meeting with a program representative for more information.

Q: Is the MBA program accredited?

The MBA program is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, a standing earned by just six percent of the world's business programs. In addition, Penn State Great Valley has a chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society established in 1913. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student can receive in an undergraduate or graduate program at an AACSB-accredited institution.

Q: Does it matter if I don't have a business undergraduate degree?

A: A business undergraduate degree is not required; however, students without that background may not be exempt from most of the program’s foundation courses. Relevant work experience may be required.

Q: What types of enrollments are available?

A: Students can pursue the degree part-time, completing in as little as 18 months or at their own pace, or enroll full-time and complete in as few as 12 months.

Q: Does the program offer any experiential learning opportunities?

A: Our courses employ experiential learning techniques to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Near the end of the program, students complete a capstone course working in a team of MBA students to analyze strategic issues, develop comprehensive solutions, and present recommendations to executive stakeholders. This hands-on experience combines strategic thinking, leadership development, and practical application while demonstrating students' readiness to take on senior management roles.

Q: I am worried about flexibility. How are classes delivered?

A: Students have the flexibility to take courses at their own pace, whenever is most convenient for them. Courses are offered in a 7-week terms and are typically delivered in an in-person/online hybrid format. Some courses may be delivered fully online.

Q: Where can I find information on scholarships and funding options?

There are a variety of scholarships available to half-time and full-time students who meet certain criteria. More information can be found here.

Q: Are there program metrics?

A: The J. Jeffrey and Ann Marie Fox Graduate School provides metrics on admission data, GMAT/GRE scores, enrollment, student demographics, time to degree, and degree conferral; more information can be found here.
