MBA Courses and Concentrations

Penn State Great Valley's MBA program requires 33 credits. You may be granted an exemption of one three-credit course, depending upon review of your transcript at the time of admission.

View the courses for the Master of Business Administration and the course descriptions listed in the University Bulletin. Please refer to the prerequisites mentioned on this page, as those listed on the University Bulletin may differ. All courses offered are three credits unless otherwise indicated.

Required MBA Courses

SARI (Scholarship and Research Integrity) requirement - You must successfully complete SARI, offered in fall and spring, in order to graduate.

ACCTG 800 - Financial and Managerial Accounting

BA 800 - Marketing Management

BA 810 - Supply Chain and Operations Management
Prerequisite: BUSAD 801

BUSAD 523 - Prices and Markets

BUSAD 801 - Statistical Analysis for Managerial Decision Making​

MGMT 501 - Behavioral Science in Business

MBADM 820 - Financial Management
Prerequisites: BUSAD 801 and ACCTG 512 or ACCTG 800

MGMT 871 - Strategic Management (Capstone Course) 
Prerequisite: 21 credits of required courses

You must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B) throughout the program in order to graduate. You have up to eight years to complete all MBA coursework.  

Class Availability

Penn State’s Schedule of Courses lists course availability. If the course you are trying to schedule is full, or if you have any questions throughout your studies, please contact 610-648-3229 or [email protected] for advising. The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course because of insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances.

  • ACCTG 462 - Governmental and Not-for-profit Accounting
  • ACCTG 804 - Data Analytics in the Accounting Profession
  • ACCTG 806 - Taxes and Business Planning
  • ACCT 550 - Professional Responsibilities and Ethics in Accounting

Required course: BUSAD 875 - Applied Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Managers

Choose two courses: 

  • MKTG 811 - Driving Business Success with Marketing Analytics
  • BUSAD 878 - Operations Analytics and Artificial Intelligence
  • DAAN 871 - Data Visualization (requires approval from Engineering Division)

Required courses: 

  • BUSAD 811 - New Ventures Ideation and Feasibility Analysis
  • BUSAD/LEAD 882 - Social Entrepreneurship and Community Leadership

Choose one course: 

  • BUSAD/LEAD 819 - Developing Creative High-Performance Organizations
  • MGMT 873 - Corporate Innovation Strategies
  • MGMT 823 - Organizational Change: Theory and Practice

Required course: BUSAD/LEAD 855 - Full Range Leadership Development (Prerequisite: MGMT 501)

Choose two courses: 

  • BUSAD/LEAD 882 - Social Entrepreneurship and Community Leadership
  • BUSAD/LEAD 856 - Diversity Leadership (Prerequisite: MGMT 501)
  • MGMT 807 - Positive Organizational Behavior and Wellbeing
  • PSY 532 - Psychological Foundations of Leadership

Required course: BUSAD 525 – Quantitative Methods in Finance

Choose two courses: 

  • BADM 834 - Portfolio Management
  • BUSAD 829 - Data Analysis in Finance
  • FIN 805 - Multinational Managerial Finance (Prerequisite: MBADM 820)
  • FIN 808 - Analysis of Capital Markets

Requires any three MBA electives or other graduate-level courses approved by the Management Division.
