MBA Courses

Penn State Great Valley's MBA program requires 33 credits. You may be granted an exemption of one three-credit course, depending upon review of your transcript at the time of admission.

View the courses for the Master of Business Administration and the course descriptions listed in the University Bulletin. Please refer to the prerequisites mentioned on this page, as those listed on the University Bulletin may differ. All courses offered are three credits unless otherwise indicated.

Required MBA Courses 

18-21 credits and 3 capstone credits

ACCTG 800 - Financial and Managerial Accounting

BA 800 - Marketing Management

BA 810 - Supply Chain and Operations Management
Prerequisite: BUSAD 801

BUSAD 523 - Prices and Markets

BUSAD 801 - Statistical Analysis for Managerial Decision Making​

MGMT 501 - Behavioral Science in Business

MBADM 820 - Financial Management
Prerequisites: BUSAD 801 and ACCTG 512 or ACCTG 800

MGMT 871 - Strategic Management (Capstone Course) 
Prerequisite: 21 credits of required courses

SARI (Scholarship and Research Integrity) requirement - You must successfully complete SARI, offered in fall and spring, in order to graduate.

If you have current, relevant undergraduate coursework and experience in one of these subject areas, you may replace core courses with higher level courses in the same subject area.

You must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B) throughout the program in order to graduate. You have up to eight years to complete all MBA coursework.

You can choose your electives from a broad range of options. Some of the courses mentioned below are part of the graduate certificates offered by Penn State Great Valley. All business and management graduate certificates fit into your MBA program.

BUSAD 875 - Applied Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Managers

MKTG 811 - Driving Business Success with Marketing Analytics

BUSAD 878 - Operations Analytics and Artificial Intelligence

DAAN 871 - Data Visualization (requires approval from Penn State Great Valley's Engineering Division)

BUSAD 525 – Quantitative Methods in Finance

BADM 834 – Portfolio Management

BUSAD 829 – Data Analysis in Finance 

FIN 805 – Multinational Managerial Finance (Prerequisite: MBADM 820)

MGMT 841 – Human Resource Management

MBADM 815 – Ethical and Responsible Business Leadership

BUSAD 542 – Global Intercultural Management (Prerequisite: MGMT 501)

BADM 828 - Negotiations

BUSAD 859 – Career Management

HRER 501 – Labor and Employment Law

MGMT 823 – Organizational Change: Theory and Practice

MGMT 873 – Corporate Innovation Strategies (Prerequisite: MGMT 501)

In addition, you can take advanced courses from other degree programs, such as Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics and other graduate programs offered by Penn State. Please talk to your advisor regarding the choice of courses from any other program.
