I had excellent professors in the program, and they all cared about my success. All the major topics [on the CPA exam] were covered in some way, shape or form in class. It was another way for me to get exposure to that information which made it easier when I had to go through and study for the exam itself after I graduated.

The professors are all really helpful and willing to answer my questions and meet up at office hours. [Adjunct Instructor] Michael Swanick is a perfect example of being able to help you outside of the classroom, going above and beyond to assure that the students are not only being successful in their classes, but being successful in their work field. I owe a lot to Penn State. I would not have met people like Dr. Bo [Ouyang] or Mr. Swanick, who helped set me up for a very successful start to my career.

The professors in the accounting program are very professional, and they are always more than happy to help steer you toward success and support you. I think the most important thing that I have learned during my program, besides the academics, is to never be afraid to ask. There are no stupid questions, so ask and get the exact answer. Be curious. It is only when you ask that you will learn more and improve yourself.

The thing that sets Penn State Great Valley apart from other graduate schools is that it's extremely accommodating to students who work full-time and/or have families. Not only does Penn State Great Valley offer a part-time program, but it also provides shorter seven-week terms that allowed me to concentrate on one course at a time. The other thing that set the program apart was how many of the electives highlighted the importance of technology and automation. For example, I had the opportunity to take Accounting Data Analytics, which is becoming increasingly important in internal controls and audit. Something else I valued greatly during my time in the program was the advice from the accounting faculty regarding CPA preparation and the free CPA prep resources that were made available.
