The nine-credit Data Engineering for Analytics Graduate Certificate prepares you for work as a data engineer or information technology officer who can assess requirements, monitor data pipelines, oversee the development of new information systems, and create robust data solutions.
This stackable certificate, embedded within the Master of Data Analytics – Base Program, helps you master these data engineering skills:
- Use tools and techniques to collect, process, and analyze data
- Detect errors in data, clean and retrieve it from large databases
- Apply extract-transform-load (ETL) strategies
- Design various interconnected large database solutions to collect, process, store, and report real-time data
Courses
- DAAN 822 - Data Collection and Cleaning (Prerequisite: STAT 500 - Applied Statistics)
- DAAN 825 - Large-Scale Database and Warehouse
- DAAN 826 - Large-Scale Databases for Real-Time Analytics (Prerequisite: DAAN 825)
You can earn this certificate in less than one year or complete it at your own pace. All courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C or better and an overall GPA of 3.0.
Stackable Certificate or Stand-alone Credential
You may earn this certificate by itself, or you can apply the courses toward the Master of Data Analytics – Base Program if you apply to the master's program (no additional application fee) and are accepted. This stackable certificate offers you a valuable credential that shows your new expertise as you progress toward your master's degree.
Up to 15 credits earned in any of these data analytics certificate programs may be transferred to the master's degree in data analytics, subject to restrictions outlined in GCAC-309 Transfer Credit.
Once you earn your certificate, you will receive a digital badge that you can display to recognize your professional growth. After successfully completing the required coursework, please submit the Graduate Certificate Completion Form.

- You must have earned a GPA of 3.0 or above in your junior and senior year of undergraduate studies.
- You will receive preferred consideration if your undergraduate degree is in a quantitative discipline such as science, engineering, or business.
- If your degree is in another discipline, you will be considered based on prior course work, professional work experience, and/or standardized test scores.
