The mission of the Big Data Lab is to use analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning to turn data into insights. Our vision is to advance the state of research by collaborating with academic and industry partners around the globe, and by training the next generation of data scientists and engineers.
To keep our graduate students up to date on and engaged with industry trends, we offer monthly talks that cover key topics. The series of workshops and presentations examine current topics in a variety of data science and data analytics areas and offer students opportunities to connect and network with industry leaders.
We offer a multitude of opportunities for students to share their work, including an annual student poster competition, where students explain their research to a panel of faculty judges. We also host the Complex Adaptive Systems Conference, which provides students the opportunity to network and share their work with academics and industry leaders across the world.
With data technologies emerging as core business disruptors in the digital age, companies in the Greater Philadelphia area are shifting their focus from data-generating to data-powered. The Big Data Lab provides local business and industry with an infrastructure, trained faculty, and graduate students to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and develop predictive models to solve their problems.
