Musser Fellowship awarded to young entrepreneur

This year's recipient of the Warren V. Musser Fellowship in Entrepreneurial Studies is Francine Way, a student in the Master of Finance program. Growing up in Indonesia, she was immersed in an entrepreneurial culture at a young age, and founded her own social impact business in 2015. As a Musser Fellow, she’s helping Penn State Great Valley’s REV-UP Center for Entrepreneurship launch and grow.

Career pivot launches alumnus to rarefied heights of professional acclaim

For more than a decade, Jay Kovacs, an alumnus of the Graduate School at Penn State, has managed and collaborated with engineers and scientists on the development of Earth-observing spacecraft, deep space missions to investigate scientific theories about the universe, and scientific missions to study the moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Pluto, and the sun.

Faculty member to present research on sustainable entrepreneurship on Nov. 9

After noticing a disconnect between the large local living economy of Philadelphia and its poverty rate, Penn State Great Valley faculty member Barrie Litzky decided to examine the idea of entrepreneurship as a vehicle for reducing hardship. She will present her research to the public at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 9, on the Penn State Great Valley campus.

Great Valley Marines participate in Military Appreciation Day game

Before the football game on Nov. 5, Penn State Great Valley students Carolina Aceto and Tahseen Firoz walked onto the field at Beaver Stadium to be recognized for their service in the Marine Corps. Donning Military Appreciation Day T-shirts, they joined Penn State veterans from all branches of the United States military in holding a giant American flag across the end zone as the opening bars of the national anthem rang out.

Big data lab research provides students with competitive advantage

Two Master of Information Science students at Penn State Great Valley will graduate with job offers thanks to their studies and hands-on research experience. As part of a team, the students worked with faculty in the campus' big data lab to analyze the public's feelings during the recent election.
