Master of Artificial Intelligence

Be at the forefront of emerging technologies with Penn State Great Valley’s highly ranked Master of Artificial Intelligence (AI), focused on AI engineering.

This coding-intensive degree builds on prior math and programming experience, equipping you to design, implement, and maintain production-grade AI and machine learning systems and infrastructure. Build mastery in model design and evaluation while strengthening your practical engineering skills, including data management, scalable system design, and robust pipeline development for modern AI workloads.

  • Develop mastery of the three primary machine learning paradigms used to analyze and learn from data: supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning.
  • Explore natural language processing, how machines interpret, generate, and synthesize speech and text.
  • Understand computer vision, how machines perceive, inspect, and analyze visual information in their environment.
  • Apply statistical reasoning, data visualization and predictive analytics principles to collect, prepare, pre-process, and model data, and implement end-to-end data pipelines.
  • Design, train, and evaluate AI models, applying best practices in hyperparameter tuning and model validation.
  • Participate in a culminating capstone project — Collaborate with classmates to create a fully functional AI product or service, while gaining practical experience in project management, teamwork, and the application of AI solutions to industry challenges.
  • Build your experience and your network by engaging in graduate research exhibitions or developing AI solutions for societal challenges through the Nittany AI Alliance.

GMAT/GRE scores are not required for admission to this STEM-designated program.

The master's program gave me the flexibility to achieve my higher education goals in studying AI while working full-time. The courses I took, especially machine vision and reinforcement learning, as well as a research project I did involving automatic dysarthric speech recognition, were challenging and rewarding experiences. I am certain the Master of Artificial Intelligence program has set me up for future success in such an exciting field.
