University Police and Public Safety at Penn State Great Valley

General Security and Safety Information

University Police and Public Safety's main function is to provide safety to all individuals on campus and security to the campus facilities.

  • Call 911 if there is a medical, fire, or police emergency on campus.
  • Phones are available in each room on campus for emergency use.
  • University Police patrol the entire campus including all buildings, parking lots, and grounds during core operational hours.
  • University Police will provide escort service upon request.
  • For non-emergencies, University Police and Public Safety can be reached at the following numbers:
    • 610-648-3203 (office)
    • 610-842-2598 (cell)
    • 610-647-2100 for East Whiteland Township Police (when University Police are not on duty)
    • 800-560-1637 (Penn State Ethics and Compliance Hotline)

In an Emergency

In the event of a fire, an alarm will sound in the building where the situation is occurring. Campus staff will assist with the evacuation of the building. Follow their directions on exiting and returning to the building.

  • Exit doors are clearly marked.
  • Fire alarms are located in each building.
  • Maps of evacuation routes are located in each classroom.
  • Do not use the elevator during an evacuation.
  • First aid kits are located in each building. The receptionist or a staff member will assist with accessing first aid supplies.
  • We have an automated external defibrillator in each building and staff trained to use the equipment if needed.
  • Our facility is ADA compliant. If you need special assistance, call 610-648-3203 and we will strive to meet your request.

Behavioral Threat Management Team

Penn State Great Valley's behavioral threat management team is committed to the safety and well-being of the campus community. Learn more about Penn State Great Valley's BTM team.

Annually, Penn State publishes the "Policies, Safety, & U." The report contains crime statistics from the previous three years that were reported to local police agencies or campus security authorities, which occurred at or near the campus or in buildings off campus that are owned or controlled by Penn State Great Valley. This report is a result of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and complies with federal reporting requirements, specifically 20 U.S. Code Section 1092(f).
