A few weeks into the Master of Software Engineering program, Great Valley student Sushrut Kanetkar applied for a research assistant position in the big data lab. Now he works to maintain the infrastructure of one of the lab's clusters — a group of computer servers acting together as one system.
After examining data from 1,500 companies, Pornsit Jiraporn, Penn State Great Valley associate professor of finance, will discuss his research on the relationship between agencies and dividend policy. He will also explore the impact of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
After being assigned to a new project team at Frontline Education, Laura Materi enrolled in Great Valley's project management certificate program. After gaining project management experience both in the classroom and at work, she sat for the PMP exam and received a promotion.
Starting in spring 2017, Penn State Great Valley will offer a 12-credit New Ventures and Entrepreneurship certificate for current and aspiring entrepreneurs to conceptualize and develop new business endeavors.

The Great Valley Alumni Society held an inaugural coat drive to support local Chester County citizens in need of warm clothing. Over 120 items went to Ann's Heart in Phoenixville in support of their Code Blue Winter Warming Center.
