'The Librarians' Documentary Screening and Discussion

Penn State Great Valley will host a screening on Jan. 28 of Oscar-nominated filmmaker Kim A. Snyder’s illuminating documentary "The Librarians" in the Conference Center Building on its campus in Malvern, Pennsylvania. This documentary explores coordinated efforts to ban books and introduces viewers to the librarians who are defending free speech and fighting censorship in the form of both legislative and grassroots attempts to pull books from school and public libraries.

This film is presented in partnership with Indie Lens Pop-Up, presented by ITVS, INDEPENDENT LENS. A panel discussion will follow the film screening, featuring panelists Kate Cummings, first vice president/president-elect of the Pennsylvania Library AssociationBillie Walker, head librarian, Penn State Great Valley; Cathi Fuhrman, retired school librarian and co-chair of Intellectual Freedom Task Group/Read for Liberty PA, Pennsylvania School Librarians Association; and Mikaila Strano, business outreach librarian, Chester County Library.
