Great Valley to host 'Backyard Wilderness' film screening and discussion April 3

Penn State Great Valley will host a community screening of "Backyard Wilderness," a film about the unexpected wonders of nature and wildlife in suburban backyards, at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in Musser Auditorium. A panel discussion on the importance of native plants in maintaining watershed health, building climate resilience, and creating habitat for birds and other wildlife will follow the film.

Great Valley MBA alumna leads biotech nonprofit using AI to find new treatments

Mary Zuccato, who earned her master of business administration from Penn State Great Valley, applied her knowledge to a variety of roles at Vanguard before taking on the role of chief operating officer at Every Cure, a nonprofit biotech organization that uses artificial intelligence to identify and evaluate repurposing opportunities for existing medicines that could be used to treat other diseases.

'Branching Out: The Power of Trees, Forest Ecology and Community Health' March 8

At this community event, attendees and panelists will discuss the power of trees to save lives and provide for the future. The panel, featuring two arboretum directors and renowned ecologist and National Geographic Explorer at Large Nalini Nadkarni, will lead guests in envisioning the expansion of tree canopies for resilience in Penn's Woods.
