Chapter 31 VR&E G.I. Bill students

  1. Apply for VR&E benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
  2. Sign up for a premium VA eBenefits account.
  3. Your VA counselor will provide a copy of your form 1905 to the Penn State Great Valley school certifying official. You must secure a copy of the form to use for the cost of books and supplies.
  4. Request enrollment verification each semester. On the same day you sign up for courses each semester, submit an Enrollment Verification Request form for the courses you would like your G.I. Bill® benefit to cover.
    • Submit the form at least three weeks prior to the first day of each semester.
    • To ensure compensation, submit all courses for the entire 14-week semester (both 7-week sessions) at the same time on the same form.
    • Directions for submission are on the form.
    • No veteran education benefit will be processed without this written request.
  5. Monitor your bursar account on LionPath to ensure your G.I. Bill benefit has been attributed to your account.
  6. If you change your program of study or change the number of credits you are taking in any semester that enrollment verification has been requested, submit a new, updated Enrollment Verification Request form. Unreported changes can lead to serious student debt to the VA or the University.
  7. Check in regularly with the campus certifying official in the Office of Student Services if you have any problems with your VR&E benefits.
