Exhibit to feature work by art educators from the region

Selected works by 27 regional art educators will be on display from April 10 through June 10 in the Henry Gallery at Penn State Great Valley. “Beyond the Classroom: Educator Artists” celebrates the personal works of art educators from Chester, Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. The exhibit opens with a reception for the public from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 16. The opening event is free but registration is required at http://arteducators.eventbrite.com.

The exhibit is curated by Pennsylvania Art Education Association (PAEA) board members Lisbeth Bucci and Robin Brewer.

“We are thrilled to be able to showcase the brilliant work that art educators accomplish beyond the classroom," the curators said in a statement. "Curating the show reinforced what we already knew: art teachers can also be amazing artists in their own right. This show highlights the work of local artists who are sometimes overlooked because their primary focus is in the field of education.”

The exhibition includes works in collage, oil, acrylic, watercolor, encaustic, photography, pottery and sculpture. At the exhibit opening April 16, visitors will be invited to participate in a collaborative mural.
