Eligible graduate students have an annual Direct Unsubsidized Loan cap of up to $20,500.00 per academic year. This amount will typically cover the cost of 6 courses at Penn State Great Valley. The Loan is awarded in amounts up to $10,250.00 in each the fall and spring semesters, as well as up to $10,250.00 in summer if the student’s annual Direct Unsubsidized Loan cap has not been reached.
Students with higher educational costs may wish to also apply for a Graduate PLUS Loan, which has a higher interest rate and requires a credit check. Apply for a PLUS loan directly at Federal Student Loans.
Students are strongly encouraged to choose low loan amounts each semester in order to borrow only the amount needed to cover educational costs, reserve loan funds for summer courses, and mitigate student debt.
For current interest rates and origination fees, go to Federal Student Aid. Federal loan origination fees are removed before a Direct Unsubsidized or Grad PLUS loan is disbursed to a student’s University account.
